Bumrah created history in Sydney, broke Bishan Bedi’s record after 47 years

India vs Australia, Jasprit Bumrah: India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah achieved another feat with the ball on the second day of the history-making fifth and final Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah, who was captaining the team in the Test match, lost the big wicket of Marnus Labuschagne at the beginning of the first session. After 47 years, he broke the record of the legendary Bishan Singh Bedi of taking most wickets for India in a series in Australia.

Bumrah’s hit

31 year old Bumrah has been the best bowler of this series and on many occasions he has single-handedly brought India back into the match. He took the wicket of Usman Khawaja on the first day. Next morning Labuschagne was out on his ball. The Australian batsman hit the ball behind the stumps into the hands of Rishabh Pant and was out for just two runs in the series decider. With this wicket, Bumrah increased his number of wickets in the series to 32 and broke Bedi’s record. Bedi took 31 wickets in the Test series against Australia in 1977/78.
