Gwalior, 23 March (HS). Create more and more model polling booths (model polling centers) in the city. Model polling booths should be made especially in those areas where the voting percentage in the last elections has been very low. Efforts should be such that as soon as voters reach the model polling booth, they are welcomed with welcome drink (lemon water, buttermilk and ORS).
Collector Ruchika Chauhan gave these instructions to the officials of the Municipal Corporation and other related departments during the inspection of the polling stations of the city on Saturday. He said that the model polling booth should be decorated attractively. Besides, better arrangements for seating, drinking water and toilets for voters should also be made there.
Collector Ruchika Chauhan along with Municipal Corporation Commissioner Harsh Singh inspected about one and a half dozen polling stations of the city on Saturday. These include polls made at RI Training Centre, Health Center of Jiwaji University, RKVM and Gorakhi School.
On this occasion, the Collector instructed that as far as possible such rooms should be selected for the polling booth, where there are separate doors for entry and exit. Also, there should be enough space for the candidates' agents and polling parties to sit, so that voting can be conducted in a smooth and orderly manner. Keeping in mind the summer season, he also laid special emphasis on making adequate arrangements for fans and lights in every polling booth.
During the inspection, Municipal Corporation's Additional Commissioner RK Srivastava and Deputy Commissioner APS Bhadauria and other concerned officers were present.
