Budget will play an important role in building a colorful Punjab – Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while addressing the budget session in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, said that the budget will play an important role in creating a progressive, prosperous and colorful Punjab. He said that in a healthy democracy, suggestions and ideas from elected representatives are always welcome but unnecessary criticism just to attract media attention is unfortunate.

Chief Minister Mann said that this is not a collection of facts and figures but a blueprint for the progress and prosperity of the state. He said that youth should play a role in changing the Indian political system. He said that political parties are now guaranteeing welfare to the people instead of concept papers or election manifestos. He said that the election manifesto should be made a legal document so that political parties cannot cheat the voters. Without naming the Prime Minister, he said people were repeatedly misled by saying 'acche din' or 'main chowkidar' and now they were being called 'my family'.

Mann said the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has copied Arvind Kejriwal's approach by giving guarantees instead of a mission statement. He said that the state government has given 40,437 jobs in various departments to the youth of the state for the empowerment of the youth. He said that 2487 youth will be given government jobs during a function in Sangrur on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said that he knows very well how to provide free electricity, free education and free health care to the people, but the opposition has become expert in running away from the basic issues.

The Chief Minister said that people are seeing this irresponsible behavior of Congress leaders and the day is not far when they will soon be removed from political posts. He said that there has been a huge increase in excise duty and GST and the state government is mixing families with traders.

Mann said that he had promised that the government will run from the villages, for which the 'Sarkar Aap De Duar' scheme has been started. The treasury of the state has never been empty, but the previous governments did not have the intention of providing welfare to the common people, due to which they did not do any work for the welfare of the people.

The Chief Minister said that the opposition leaders are a new form of unemployed, who have been thrown out of power by the public because of their performance. He said that like this budget, the next budget will be even better because no tax will be imposed in it but maximum facilities will be provided to the people. He said that for the first time such a huge amount has been reserved for the education sector in the budget because the state government is committed to empowering the common man through this budget.
