Palamu, 30 August (HS). Two brothers together killed the lover who had come to meet their sister and threw the body on a bike from the Sonpura Amanat river bridge in the Tarhasi police station area of the district. Five days later, the dead body was recovered in a mutilated state from the bank of the Amanat river in Bajalpur Pathakpagar.
After the body was identified as Mehak Kumar Singh (22) of Konwai in Panki, his brother Sindhu Kumar Singh lodged a case. During the investigation his girlfriend Neelam Devi (24) and husband Vidyapati Singh were arrested. Neelam's in-laws were in Konwai Panki. As they lived in the neighbourhood, the two had been in a love affair for the past one year. On the night of 22 August Neelam had called Mehak to her house to meet her, when her brothers Vivekanand Singh (18) and Vibhishan Kumar (22), who were sleeping at home, saw them and started beating Mehak. Vivekanand hit Mehak on the head with a stick used for threshing grain, causing her to die on the spot.
Leslieganj SDPO Manoj Kumar Jha informed Tarhasi police station on Friday that during the investigation, the FIR accused Neelam Devi was arrested. She accepted her crime and told that her brothers had committed the murder. Neelam told that after killing Mehak, Vivekananda and Vibhishan made her sit in the middle of the bike and threw her down from Sonpura Amanat river bridge five kilometers away. Due to water in the river, Mehak's body got washed away and reached Bajalpur Pathakpagar. Due to lying in the river for four-five days, Mehak's body was mutilated and wild animals had torn the dead body. Tarhasi police station in-charge Neeraj Kumar is engaged with the team to arrest Vivekananda and Vibhishan.
