Panchkula, 19 February (HS). Thanks to the brilliant performance of Arjun Deshwal and Shubham, defending champion Jaipur Pink Panthers defeated Gujarat Giants 45-36 in the 128th match of the 10th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) played at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium here on Monday. For Jaipur, Arjun Deshwal scored 13 points and Shubham Shelk scored eight points, while for Gujarat, Partik Dahiya scored 14 points.
Jaipur Pink Panthers finished the league stage with their 16th win in 22 matches. The team now has 92 points and is still at number one. Gujarat Giants finished the league stage with ninth loss and 13 wins in 22 matches.
Reigning champions Jaipur Pink Panthers made a great start to the match and took a 9-1 lead by all-out Gujarat Giants in the third minute itself. Gujarat achieved its first touch point in the fifth minute and after that it slowly started making a comeback. But still the Pink Panthers had a lead of 13-7 till the 10th minute.
Jaipur again pushed Gujarat towards all out by taking consecutive points. But Deepak saved the Giants from being all out in his raid. However, in the next raid, Deepak was tackled and Gujarat Giants were all out for the second time. With this, Jaipur Pink Panthers took the score to 23-10 with a lead of 13 points till the 16th minute. Thanks to Arjun and Shubham, Pink Panthers were continuously strengthening their lead and due to this, Jaipur maintained a lead of 28-14 till half time.
Even after the start of the second half, Jaipur Pink Panthers continued to score points. In the 23rd minute, Arjun Deshwal scored his 16th Super-10 of this season and 52nd in PKL history. Due to his performance, the team was ahead by 32-15 till the 25th minute. Arjun was super tackled in the very next raid and Gujarat added two more points to its account. In the 27th minute, Gujarat was once again all out and Jaipur scored 37-18.
Meanwhile, Partik Dahiya scored his sixth Super-10 by hitting a Super Raid. He then made a super raid in the very next raid with three points. With this, Gujarat all out the defending champions in the 31st minute and reduced Jaipur's lead to 12 points. By the 35th minute, Gujarat was left with nine points. But in Do or Die, Arjun scored a point and gave Jaipur a lead of 11 points again. Jaipur Pink Panthers continued to maintain their lead here and defeated Gujarat Giants 45-36.
