Rio de Janeiro, July 11 (HS). Brazilian Serie A club Corinthians has appointed Argentine player Ramon Diaz as its new manager. The club gave this information on Wednesday. 64-year-old Diaz replaced Antonio Oliveira, who was sacked last week after a poor performance.
“Ramon Diaz is the new manager of Corinthians. The Argentine coach's contract is until the end of 2025,” a statement on the Sao Paulo club's official website said.
Former Argentina international striker Diaz, whose managerial career has included being in charge of River Plate and the Paraguay national team, had been unemployed since parting ways with Brazil's Vasco da Gama in April.
Corinthians are 17th in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A table with just two wins from 15 games this season.
