Earlier in 2017, Robinho was sentenced to 9 years in prison in Italy for his involvement in the gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman while he was playing for AC Milan.

Will appeal in the Supreme Court
Of the 10 votes cast in the Superior Tribunal of Justice (STJ) case, eight were in favor of Robinho's arrest and serving his sentence on home soil. Robinho's lawyer, José Eduardo Alcamin, told the court that his accuser wants to be extradited to Brazil on national sovereignty grounds, meaning he would appeal to the Supreme Court.
