Brazil: 100 people died, 100,000 people homeless due to rain and floods in Brazil


Brazil is currently struggling with natural disasters. Rio Grande do Sul state in southern Brazil has been hit by floods due to torrential rains since last week. About 100 people have died due to this flood. 14.5 lakh people have been affected by the floods. Two lakh people had to leave their homes. According to data from Brazil's Civil Protection Agency, 99,800 houses have been partially or completely destroyed so far due to floods and rains.

It has been raining continuously since April 29

Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state has been receiving heavy rains since April 29. Therefore, 414 out of 497 cities of the state are facing floods. The state is Brazil's top agricultural and pastoral state. This state, located on the border of Argentina and Uruguay, is struggling with heavy rains and severe floods. According to an estimate, this rain and flood is causing economic loss of about 4.6 billion riyals. In addition, much housing and infrastructure was damaged.

According to the information, more than 130 people are still missing. The weather office has not yet predicted rain. Therefore, the situation is likely to worsen. Due to rain, rivers and lakes are completely filled. Apart from this, the city of Porto Alegre has been badly affected by floods.
