There is great news for lakhs of candidates who are dreaming of becoming teachers in government schools of Bihar. Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the much awaited teacher recruitment examination under the Education Department i.e. BPSC TRE 4.0 Official notification (Advt. No. 14/2026) has been released. Through this recruitment drive, total vacancies in primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools of the state 32,388 teacher posts Appointments will be made on. According to the information released by the Commission, the application process will start through online mode from September 1, 2026.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Recruitment 2026: Complete details of category wise vacancies

As per the data released by BPSC, the distribution of posts in different categories of schools is as follows:

• Primary Teacher (Class 1 to 5 – PRT): 3,847 posts

• Middle School Teacher (Class 6 to 8 – Middle): 8,563 posts

• Secondary Teacher (Class 9 to 10 – TGT): 3,877 posts

• Higher Secondary Teacher (Class 11 to 12 – PGT): 16,101 posts

• Total No. of Posts: 32,388 posts

Maximum 16,101 vacancies have been released in higher secondary schools (class 11th and 12th), which will provide a big opportunity to the youth who have passed post graduation in science, arts and language subjects. Along with this, the benefit of reservation for women candidates and reserved categories will also be given as per the rules of the state government.

Candidates must complete their registration, fee payment and application form within the stipulated time limit:

• Date of release of notification: 18 August 2026

• Online application and fee payment started: 01 September 2026

• Last date for submission of application fee: 29 September 2026

• Last date for submission of online application form: 30 September 2026

• Date of Exam and Admit Card: Will be informed separately by the Commission.

Post wise educational qualification and eligibility criteria

Candidates applying for BPSC TRE 4.0 must fulfill the minimum educational and training qualifications as per the rules prescribed by NCTE:

• Class 1 to 5 (PRT): Must have passed 12th with minimum 50% marks, 2 year D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) and also passed CTET Paper-1 or BTET Paper-1.

• Class 6 to 8 (Middle): Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject with D.El.Ed or B.Ed and passing CTET Paper-2 or BTET Paper-2 is mandatory.

• Class 9 to 10 (Secondary/TGT): Graduation or Post Graduation with 50% marks in relevant subject + B.Ed and passing Bihar STET Paper-1.

• Class 11 to 12 (Higher Secondary/PGT): It is mandatory to have Post Graduation (PG) + B.Ed with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject and passed Bihar STET Paper-2.

Age limit and relaxation rules (Age Limit)

The minimum age limit for applying has been fixed at 18 years for primary and middle school and 21 years for secondary/higher secondary. The maximum age limit is as follows:

• Unreserved (Male): 37 years

• Unreserved (Women), Backward Class (BC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 40 years

• Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST): 42 years

• As per the personnel rules of Bihar Government, additional relaxation in upper age limit will be given to reserved and disabled categories.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Selection completely under BPSC TRE 4.0 Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Questions) And after that it will be based on Document Verification. No interview will be taken in this recruitment. In the written examination, questions related to Language Qualifying, General Studies and related subjects will be asked mainly.
