BPSC TRE 4.0 Notification: Bumper recruitment notification released for 32,388 teacher posts in Bihar, online application starts from September 1; Know eligibility, age limit and selection process


The long awaited wait of lakhs of youth and teacher candidates dreaming of becoming government teachers in Bihar has finally ended. Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the official advertisement number 14/2026 of the fourth phase School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) under the Education Department and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department. Through this recruitment drive, qualified teachers will be appointed to a total of 32,388 vacant posts in primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools across the state. After this notification issued under the resolution of the state government to provide employment to the youth, tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the candidates preparing for competitive examinations.

Important dates and timetable of application

As per the official schedule released by the Commission, the process of online application and examination fee payment for School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) will start from September 1, 2026 on the official portal. The last date for submission of application fee has been fixed as 29th September 2026, while candidates will be able to submit their completely filled online application form last till midnight of 30th September 2026. The Commission has clearly advised all the candidates to complete their registration and form submission in time to avoid last minute pressure and technical disruptions on the servers.

Detailed classification of post wise vacancies for class 1 to 12

Under BPSC TRE 4.0, there is a clear division of vacancies on the basis of different teaching levels. 3,847 posts have been earmarked for the primary level i.e. classes 1 to 5 (PRT). A total of 8,563 vacancies have been advertised for teachers of middle school level i.e. classes 6 to 8. At the secondary level, recruitment will be done for 3,877 posts for classes 9 and 10 (TGT) and special school teachers. The maximum number of vacancies have been kept for the higher secondary level i.e. Class 11 and 12 (PGT), where a total of 16,101 teacher posts are to be filled. Apart from this, posts of teachers of specific subjects like Magahi, Maithili, Fine Arts and Agriculture have also been included in this recruitment process.

Post wise essential educational and teacher eligibility criteria

For the post of Primary Teacher (Class 1 to 5), it is necessary for the applicant to have passed 12th with minimum 50 percent marks and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) and CTET Paper-1 or BTET Paper-1. For Middle School Teacher (Class 6 to 8), it is mandatory to have a graduate degree in the relevant subject with D.El.Ed or B.Ed and passing CTET Paper-2 or BTET Paper-2. For the posts of Secondary Teacher (Class 9 and 10), only candidates who have passed B.Ed with graduation in the relevant subject and Bihar State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) Paper-1 will be eligible. Whereas for Higher Secondary teachers (Class 11 and 12), it has been made mandatory to pass Post Graduation, B.Ed and STET Paper-2 with 50 percent marks in the relevant subject.

Age limit and reservation rules of state government

The minimum age limit of the applicants has been fixed as 18 years for primary and middle school teachers and 21 years for secondary and higher secondary teachers considering August 1, 2026 as the basis. The maximum age limit for unreserved male category is fixed at 37 years. The maximum age limit for male and female candidates of Backward Class (OBC), Extremely Backward Class (EBC) and women of general category has been kept at 40 years. The maximum age limit for male and female candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) is 42 years. Candidates who are natives of Bihar will get the full benefit of the reservation roster of the state government, which also includes 35 percent horizontal reservation for women.

Examination System and Format of Selection Process

With the aim of making the selection process transparent and of high quality, the Commission has set the standard of selection through written examination. The examination will be conducted in offline mode on OMR sheets in multiple choice objective (MCQ) format. The question paper will consist of questions related to Language Aptitude, General Studies and the main subject chosen by the candidate. There will be a system of negative marking for wrong answers in the examination as per the rules prescribed by the Commission. The final state level merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination, in which there will be no personal interview.

Step by step process to apply online

Eligible candidates can apply by visiting the official portal of Bihar Public Service Commission (bpsc.bihar.gov.in) from 1st September 2026.

  • First of all, go to BPSC Online Application Portal by clicking on ‘Apply Online’ tab of the official website.

  • Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process by visiting the TRE 4.0 Recruitment link and generate User ID and Password.

  • Login with the help of credentials and enter your personal information, address, educational qualification and Teacher Eligibility Test details in the detailed application form.

  • Upload digital copies of your photograph, signature and necessary educational and reservation certificates in the prescribed format and size.

  • Pay the prescribed examination fee as per your category online through net banking, UPI or card.

  • After checking the final preview of the form, click on ‘Submit’ button and download the hard copy of the filled form and fee receipt safely for future reference.
