Mumbai: The lover of the Air India pilot who committed suicide has applied for bail in the court and claimed that there is no case made out against him even in the imagination of attempting suicide.
Aditya Pandit (27) argued in the petition that he was arrested due to an FIR registered against him and the order giving him custody was against the provisions of law.
In the hearing on the application given in Dindoshi Sessions Court of Malad, the court has asked the police to file a reply and has fixed the hearing on 23rd December.
Pilot Shruti Tuli (25) lived on rent in a flat in Kangia Rain Forest in Marol area. She was found dead in her flat on 25 November.
The next day, the police arrested her boyfriend Pandit and filed a case of attempt to suicide against him.
Tuli was a native of Uttar Pradesh and was living in Mumbai since June last year. Police had earlier said that she came in contact with Pandit during a pilot course in New Delhi two years ago and a romantic relationship developed between them.
Pandit had come to stay with Tuli for a few days and was returning to New Delhi by car, when on the way he got a call from Tuli that she was cutting her life short.
According to Tuli’s father in the complaint, there used to be fights between the two because they had different food preferences. Tuli was a non-vegetarian and Pandit was a vegetarian and he forced Tuli to become a vegetarian. Pandit said in the petition that Tuli did not pick up the phone but returned to her house and opened the door with the help of the key holder. Tuli’s body was strangled to death in the flat. Being a law abiding citizen himself, he was also admitted to the hospital.
There is no mention of suicide attempt anywhere in the FIR. It is also claimed that the government side could not prove anything in the FIR or investigation. The accused is currently in judicial custody.
