Mumbai: A case has come to light in Maharashtra where a government employee posted on contract with a monthly salary of just Rs 13 thousand, along with other criminals, embezzled Rs 21 crore from the government treasury. This government employee bought a BMW car with the embezzled money and also gifted a luxurious four BHK flat to his girlfriend.
The people around him were also surprised to see the luxurious lifestyle of this employee of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar of Maharashtra. However, he began to have doubts about the source of his income. But, finally it came to light that he had embezzled the government’s money.
This employee named Harsh Kumar Kshirsagar and his partner took Rs 21.59 crore from the sports complex through internet banking. With this money he also bought a BMW car, BMW bike and diamond studded glasses. He also bought a big luxury four BHK flat opposite the airport for his girlfriend.
The husband of another female employee involved in this scam bought an SUV car worth Rs 35 lakh. According to initial investigation, Harsh Kumar Kshirsagar has absconded with this SUV.
Harsh Kshirsagar, his co-employee Yashoda Shetty and Yashoda’s husband B Jeevan planned this scam. He used an account in Indian Bank in the name of Sports Complex. The account was for government business and the signature of the Deputy Sports Director was required to withdraw the cheque.
The scammer trio started an internet banking facility using fake documents. Through that they started grabbing money. The surprising thing is that the Deputy Sports Director came to know about this embezzlement after about six months.
Sports Director Tejas Kulkarni has filed a complaint regarding this embezzlement. According to the details of the complaint, 23-year-old Harsh Kumar Anil Kshirsagar, resident of Beed Ayapas, was working as a contract operator in February 2022. After that, in 2023, Yashodajayram Shetty, living in Gadiya Vihar, was given the job of contract based clerk.
