Meanwhile, Bopanna-Balaji committed 15 unforced errors, which prevented them from taking control of the match. In the second set, the French pair broke Bopanna-Balaji's serve in the fourth and eighth games to win straightaway.
Earlier in the day, India won its first medal at the Paris Olympics when top shooter Manu Bhaker won bronze in the 10m women's air pistol event. 22-year-old Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympics. Bhaker won the bronze medal with a score of 221.7 to give India its first medal in the ongoing mega event.
