New Delhi: There was panic at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport after a Toronto-bound Air Canada flight received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the plane, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) office received an email at 10.50 pm on Tuesday night stating that a bomb had been planted in the Delhi-Toronto Air Canada flight. A senior police officer said, “Following the standard security protocols, a thorough check was carried out and nothing suspicious was found.” He said legal action is being taken in this regard.
On Saturday, an IndiGo flight going from Chennai to Mumbai received a bomb threat. Flight 6E 5314 took off from Chennai at 7 am. It landed at Mumbai airport at 9:30 am. Airport officials immediately swung into action. All the passengers were safely deboarded. The entire plane was searched but nothing suspicious was found.
