Bollywood: New release date of Emergency film will be announced soon: Kangana | News India

Actress and MP Kangana Ranaut on Friday said that her directorial venture 'Emergency' has been shelved and the film's new release date will be announced soon. Ranaut has written the script of this film based on political events and she is the co-producer of the film.

The film was scheduled to release in theatres across the country on Friday, but the filmmakers have not yet received approval from the Central Board of Film Certification. The case is currently in court.

Kangana Ranaut, MP from Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal Pradesh, wrote in a post on Instagram, 'With a heavy heart, I have to announce that my directorial film Emergency has been postponed for the time being. We are waiting for the certificate from the Censor Board. The new release date will be announced soon. Thank you for your understanding and patience.' Kangana Ranaut, who plays the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film, had accused the Censor Board a few days ago that the board is withholding the certificate to delay the release. In fact, the film got embroiled in controversy when Sikh organizations including Shiromani Akali Dal alleged that the facts have been misrepresented in the film.
