A case of theft of luxury car BMW Z4 from Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's 'Bastian' restaurant in Mumbai has come to light.
The car belonged to Bandra-based businessman and car collector Ruhan Khan and was worth around Rs 1 crore. Ruhaan has lodged a complaint at Shivaji Park Police Station. The car was stolen just a minute after parking. At 2 pm on 27th October, Ruhan reached the famous 'Bastian' club of Dadar with his friends. Here he gave the car to the club valet to park. The valet parked the car in the basement. Barely a minute after parking the car, two people in a jeep reached the basement. He hacked the car open and ran away. The entire incident was captured in CCTV. After this, when the club closed at 4 in the morning, Ruhaan asked the valet to bring his car and came to know that his car was not in the basement. After examining the CCTV footage, it was found that the car was stolen.
Police registered the case after investigation. Ruhaan's lawyer Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh said that Shivaji Park police registered the case immediately after investigation. The police is now trying to trace the accused through all the CCTVs installed on the roads. Questions raised on security weaknesses. The lawyer also raised questions over security lapses when clubs and restaurants remain open beyond the stipulated hours.
Along with this, he also termed serving liquor openly as a violation of the law. He said that now this matter will be taken to the High Court. Shilpa is the co-founder of 'Bastian'. Ranjit Bindra is the founder and owner of 'Bastian' restaurant located on the top of the Kohinoor building in Dadar. Shilpa Shetty is the co-founder of this restaurant. The 450-seat restaurant has several bars and dining sections as well as a swimming pool.
