When Aadhar card is issued by UIDAI for children, its color is blue. The blue colored Aadhaar card is also called 'Baal Aadhaar'. According to UIDAI, the Aadhaar card of the newborn child is made through the birth discharge certificate and Aadhaar card of the parents.
The blue 12-digit base is for children aged 5 years and below. It is valid only for 5 years and after that it becomes invalid and has to be updated again. According to the rules, the Aadhaar of a newborn child can be used only till the age of 5 years. If it is not updated after the expiration of this period, it is deactivated. After 5 years, when the child turns 15, the biometrics will have to be updated.
According to UIDAI, fingerprints of the newborn child are not taken. But when the child turns 5 years old, he will have to go to the nearest Aadhaar center to get Aadhaar updated.
Blue Aadhaar is issued in 60 days
Take your child with you to the enrollment centre. Fill the form for enrollment there and submit it. The guardian will have to provide his Aadhar card as a document. You will be asked to provide a phone number under which the Blue Aadhar Card will be issued. No biometric information is required in Blue Aadhaar, only photograph will be taken. A message will come after the document is verified. Blue Aadhar Card will be issued to your child within 60 days of verification.
Update Aadhaar like this after 5 years!
This mandatory biometric update for children is absolutely free. No charge will have to be paid for this. Let us know how you can get your child's Aadhaar made or updated. For this you will have to visit your nearest Aadhaar center once.
Book an appointment like this: You have to book an appointment by visiting https://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx. When the homepage opens on the website, you will see the option of Book an Appointment, click on it. After this fill the location details and click on Proceed to Book Appointment. After verifying all the information, click on Summit to book an appointment. Now you have to go to the Aadhaar Enrollment Center with all the original documents.
It is noteworthy that there is no need to fulfill any criteria to get Aadhaar card made for newborns i.e. children below 5 years of age. Biometric data will not be required in this. The processing and authentication of Aadhaar will be done on the basis of parents. Aadhaar verification of the child will be done only through the demographics and photographs of the parents.
