Blockade of Hormuz and Trump’s Triple Action Plan, why did America choose the dangerous path to bring Iran to its knees?

News India Live, Digital Desk: The tension between America and Iran over the world’s most important maritime trade route ‘Strait of Hormuz’ has now reached its peak. US President Donald Trump had considered three major options to deal with this crisis, but ultimately he surprised the whole world by choosing the path of ‘blockade’. This decision of Trump is not only being considered as the last blow to Iran’s economy, but it has also created panic in the global oil market.

These three big options were on Trump’s table

According to White House sources, the Trump administration had three ways to open the Strait of Hormuz. The first was ‘diplomatic talks’, in which pressure would be put on Iran through allies. The second option was ‘limited military action’ i.e. surgical strikes on selected targets of Iran. But Trump preferred the third and most drastic option i.e. ‘complete military blockade’. Experts believe that Trump wants to cripple Iran economically without war.

After all, why was ‘blockade’ chosen?

The question arises that why did Trump choose the path of blockade instead of war or negotiations? In fact, under Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ policy, he does not want to risk the lives of American soldiers by directly engaging in war. Through the blockade, Iran can be weakened internally by reducing its oil sales to zero. Trump believes that when Iran has no money left, it will not be able to fund its nuclear program and regional militias.

Crisis looms on global oil supply chain

About 20 percent of the world’s crude oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. This strict siege by America has increased the concerns of China, India and many European countries. This move of Trump has not only put Iran in trouble, but has also created the danger of a rise in global oil prices. America has made it clear that any country that tries to buy oil from Iran will have to face American sanctions.

Iran’s threat of counterattack and increasing tension

On the other hand, Iran has also made it clear that if its oil supply is stopped, it will not remain silent. Iranian commanders have warned of a complete blockade of Hormuz and targeting American warships. This ‘high-stakes’ game of Trump has put the Middle East on a pile of gunpowder. Now it remains to be seen whether Trump’s blockade will bring Iran to the negotiation table or will it spark a major world war.
