Varanasi, 28 August (HS). Dhananjay Rai alias Guddu, who escaped from police custody 15 years ago in 2009 from Sarnath Railway Station, was brought from Buxar jail and presented in the court on Monday. Bahubali Dhananjay Rai alias Guddu, four-time block chief and current block chief of Chausa block of Bihar's Buxar district, was brought to the court amid tight security. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (North Eastern Railway) Mahendra Kumar had summoned Dhananjay, who was involved in criminal incidents in many states, to appear in the case on Warrant B in the case of absconding from police custody from Sarnath station in 2009.
In the court, advocates Manish Rai, Aditya Rai and Durga Prasad Gupta had applied on behalf of the accused to summon him from jail on Warrant B. On this application he was brought to Buxar jail.
According to the prosecution, constables Anirudh Yadav and Jaiprakash were taking prisoner Dhananjay Rai alias Guddu from Central Jail on 10 December 2009 to Ghazipur court to present him in the case. While returning from Ghazipur after the appearance, as soon as the train slowed down after reaching the outer of Sarnath station, the vicious Dhananjay alias Guddu Rai escaped by jumping from the train, dodging the policemen. The police team started searching for him but could not find any trace of Dhananjay Rai. In the same case, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against the accused as he was absconding for several dates. In order to produce him in this case, his lawyers had applied and requested to summon him on Warrant B from Buxar Jail. In this case the accused reached the court today for appearance.
