Ranchi (Jharkhand), 30 March (Hindustan Reporter). So far in the history of democracy, elections have been held for Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat a total of 17 times. No party has ever dominated this seat. There was always a phase of change but BJP won the most from here. From the year 1952 to 2019, BJP has won seven times, Communist Party of India twice, Indian Congress Party thrice, Chota Nagpur Santhal Pargana Janata Party twice, Janata Party once, Bharatiya Lok Dal once and Independent once. Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat has also given the country Finance and Foreign Ministers.

India Alliance has fielded Jaiprakash Bhai Patel as its candidate from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat. The contest is likely to be interesting after JP Patel enters the field. There is a possibility of a tough contest between BJP's Manish Jaiswal and Congress's JP Patel. Keeping in mind the political background and caste equation of Teklal Mahato, the Congress Party has declared JP Patel as its candidate. Before the arrival of JP Patel, it seemed that there was no strong candidate in the opposition camp against BJP's Manish Jaiswal on this seat, but to defeat the BJP, the Congress party was successful in breaking into its own house and the BJP was defeated. Didn't realize till then.

In the 2019 elections, JP Patel had campaigned in favor of BJP. BJP's Jayant Sinha was victorious. He got a total of 728,798 votes. Gopal Sahu of Congress got 2,04950 votes. CPI's Bhuvneshwar Prasad Mehta was also trying his luck here. He had to be satisfied with only 32,109 votes. In this way, Jayant Sinha defeated Gopal Sahu of Congress by a margin of more than five lakh votes. One reason for this was that JP Patel had campaigned in favor of Jayant Sinha but now the situation has changed.

BJP's JP Patel has now joined Congress and is also contesting elections against Manish Jaiswal. Hazaribagh Lok Sabha constituency consists of five assembly constituencies. BJP's Manish Jaiswal on Hazaribagh Sadar seat, JP Patel on Mandu seat who is now from Congress. Uma Shankar Akela is the Congress MLA in Barhi and Amba Prasad is the Congress MLA in Barkagaon, while Sunita Devi of AJSU is the MLA in Ramgarh.

In the year 2014, BJP's Jayant Sinha got a total of 4,06931 votes while Congress's Saurabh Narayan Singh got 2,47,803 votes. AJSU broke ties with BJP and fielded former MLA Loknath Mahato as its candidate. He got 1,56,186 votes. In this way, BJP's Jayant Sinha defeated Congress' Saurabh Narayan Singh by a margin of 1,59,128 votes.

However, the path to 2024 is not easy for BJP. JP Patel may benefit from the political background of his father Teklal Mahato. Teklal Mahato was an agitator. Had been MLA in Mandu Assembly five times. In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Teklal Mahato contested from Giridih Lok Sabha seat on JMM ticket. At that time, Teklal Mahato had reached Parliament by defeating BJP's Ravindra Pandey by a margin of about 1.5 lakh votes. Teklal Mahato was one of the founding members of JMM. Teklal along with Shibu Soren, AK Vinod Bihari Mahato were involved in the movement for a separate state.

JP Patel is the continuous MLA since 2011 and Manish Jaiswal is the Sadar MLA since 2014.

After the death of Teklal Mahato on September 27, 2011, his son JP Patel became the first MLA by defeating Mahesh Singh in the by-election held in Mandu. After this he is the MLA from this seat continuously. JP Patel has also been the Minister of Drinking Water Supply and Prohibition in the Hemant Soren cabinet, while Manish Jaiswal has been the MLA from Sadar Assembly seat continuously since 2014. In the 2014 assembly elections, he became MLA by defeating independent candidate Pradeep Prasad by a margin of 27129 votes. In the 2019 elections, Manish Jaiswal won this seat by more than 51 thousand votes. He defeated Dr. RC Prasad Mehta of Congress. This time there will be a direct contest between Manish Jaiswal and JP Patel on Hazaribagh parliamentary seat.

After the Congress announced the candidature of JP Patel, who won the assembly elections from Mandu on BJP ticket from Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency, the political activity in Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency has intensified. On this seat, JP Patel will face BJP MLA (Sadar) Manish Jaiswal, who has been made MLA by BJP by cutting the ticket of MP and former Union Minister Jayant Sinha.

In this election, Congress may get lead from Barkagaon and Barhi. Because, Congress is in control of both these assembly seats. Talking about BJP candidate Manish Jaiswal, he has a strong hold in Sadar Assembly constituency. He definitely has recognition in other assembly constituencies but he will have to make a strong siege for votes. Overall, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the path for both JP and Manish is not that easy. The careers of both the MLAs are also at stake in this election.
