BJP wins all 5 seats, number of MLAs increases from 156 to 161 | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Along with this, assembly elections have also been held in many states. In this category, BJP has won all the seats in the by-elections held on 5 seats of Gujarat Assembly. Arjun Modhwadia from Porbandar, C.J. Chavda from Bijapur, Arvind Ladhani from Manavadar, Chirag Patel from Khambhat and Dharmendra Singh Vaghela from Waghodiya have won the elections. In fact, four out of five MLAs left Congress and joined BJP and contested the by-elections.

Dharmendrasinh Vaghela won the election as an independent, then resigned and now has won the election from BJP. BJP's strength in the assembly has now increased to 161. Actually, by-elections were to be held on Bijapur, Porbandar, Manavadar, Khambhat and Waghodiya assembly seats in Gujarat. Congress fielded Dinesh Patel from Bijapur, Raju Odedara from Porbandar, Hari Kansagra from Manavadar, Mahendrasinh Parmar from Khambhat and Kanu Gohil from Waghodiya.

By-elections were held on 25 Lok Sabha seats and 5 Gujarat Assembly seats in Gujarat. BJP has won all the 5 assembly seats. The number of BJP MLAs in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly has now increased from 156 to 161. The candidates chosen by BJP for the by-elections to be held on 5 seats of Gujarat Assembly were all sitting members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, but from the same seat CJ Chavda, Arjun Modhwadia, Arvind Ladhani and Chirag Patel resigned after joining BJP. From where they resigned, they contested again on BJP's election symbol and won again.

At that time Congress had 17, Aam Aadmi Party had 5, opposition had 3 and SP had 1 seat. After the results of the assembly elections came, six MLAs resigned. All of them joined BJP and out of these six seats, by-elections were held on the remaining five seats except Visavadar assembly seat. BJP has won all the seats. After which now in the 182-member Gujarat Legislative Assembly, BJP has 161, Congress has 13, Aam Aadmi Party has 4, Aam Aadmi Party has 2 and SP has 1 MLA. By-election is to be held on Visavadar assembly seat in the near future and in that too, if Vav Assembly MLA Jeniben Thakor wins from Banaskantha Lok Sabha, then Vav seat will also become vacant.
