According to sources, Kirron Kher had already refused to contest the elections, but was in the race for the ticket. Meanwhile, after getting the ticket, Sanjay Tandon has said, 'Kirron Kher has done a good job and now the external and domestic issues are over.' Why was Kirron Kher's ticket canceled?
There was a demand of the people in Chandigarh that a local person should be made a candidate in the Lok Sabha elections. The opposition also targeted MP Kirron Kher, alleging that he 'does not live in the city'. BJP was also continuously conducting surveys. Keeping all these things in mind, it is now believed that Sanjay Tandon has been given a chance. During the Rose Festival in Chandigarh in February, MP Kirron Kher had given a statement that, 'I will not contest the next Lok Sabha elections. It is noteworthy that Kirron Kher came into active politics in 2014. He was given the ticket in 2014. Whereas even then Sanjay Tandon was in the race for the ticket. In 2019 also, BJP had fielded Kher.
Who is Sanjay Tandon?
Sanjay Tandon is currently a member of the National Executive and President of UT Cricket Association. He was born on 10 September 1963 in Amritsar, Punjab. His father Balramji Das Tandon was a freedom fighter and a founding member of RSS Prachar and Jan Sangh. His mother has been a teacher in Amritsar. Sanjay Tandon has two sisters, who are in Delhi.
Sanjay Tandon's primary education took place in Amritsar. When his father became a minister in 1977, he came to Chandigarh. He has also been continuously active in politics and BJP had also made him its president from Chandigarh.
