New Delhi, June 4 (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Suresh Gopi has created history in Kerala by winning the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat by 74,686 votes. Former Rajya Sabha member Gopi registered a landslide victory by defeating his nearest rival CPI's VS Sunil Kumar by a margin of 74,686 votes.
The Election Commission has declared the results of eight of the 20 seats in Kerala. According to the commission, Congress has won seven seats while BJP has won one seat. BJP's Suresh Gopi has won the Thrissur seat by a margin of 74 thousand 686 votes from his nearest rival VS Sunil Kumar of CPI.
On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has won the Wayanad seat by a margin of over 3 lakh 64 thousand votes. Along with this, Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor has won the Thiruvananthapuram seat by over 16 thousand votes from BJP candidate and former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Apart from this, Congress leader K.C. Venugopal has won the Alappuzha seat by over 63 thousand votes, Chalakudy seat Benny Behanan has won by 63 thousand 754 votes, Ernakulam seat sitting MP Hibi Eden has won by a margin of 250385 votes and Idukki seat was won by Advocate Dean Kuriakose by a margin of over 1 lakh 33 thousand votes.
