Preparations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 are going on in full swing, hence the BJP's core committee meeting lasted till late night at the party headquarters in Delhi on Monday. In which possible candidates from different states for the Lok Sabha elections were discussed. Lok Sabha seats and possible candidates of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Haryana, Odisha, Sikkim, Maharashtra and Gujarat were discussed in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by BJP national president JP Nadda, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party's national general secretary BL Santosh were also present.
Discussion took place on 25 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh
According to sources, the meeting also discussed the remaining Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP has not yet announced candidates. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak, UP BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary were present in this meeting. According to sources, 25 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh were discussed in the BJP core group meeting. National Democratic Alliance's ally Apna Dal may get two seats in UP, one in Mirzapur and the other in Sonbhadra. Ghaziabad MP General VK Singh may be fielded again, while BJP may change its candidate from Barabanki seat.
Haryana seats were discussed
In the second phase, Haryana seats were discussed. Newly appointed Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Saini and former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar were present in this meeting. In the third phase, elections were held on 10 Lok Sabha seats of Rajasthan. The discussion took place in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, State President CP Joshi, in-charge Arun Singh and co-in-charge Vijaya Rahatkar. According to sources, the core group of Rajasthan has decided the names. BJP's Central Election Committee will approve the list of candidates in the next day or two. Let us tell you that BJP has announced its candidates for 15 seats in Rajasthan.
Bengal and Odisha also brainstormed
In the core group meeting, candidates for the remaining 23 Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal were discussed. West Bengal BJP President Sukant Majumdar, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari and Amitabh Chakraborty were present in this meeting. Core committee meetings were also held for Sikkim, Odisha and Maharashtra respectively, with Odisha BJP president Man Mohan Samal and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan leading the discussion for Odisha. Apart from this, BJP MPs Joel Oram, Sambit Patra, Baijayant Panda, Sunil Bansal, Lata Tendi, Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, Manas Mohanty were present in the meeting.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray has reached Delhi
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray reached Delhi late on Monday night. He can meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah today. According to sources, Raj Thackeray may join the grand alliance of BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP. MNS can be given two Lok Sabha seats. When asked by media persons, Raj Thackeray said, 'I don't know yet what my schedule is. I was only asked to come to Delhi. Needed'. The Election Commission has announced the schedule of 2024 Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. Voting will be held in 7 phases across the country from April 19 to June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
