Shreyasi Singh, MLA from Jamui district of Bihar and Arjuna Award winning international shooter, will present her challenge today in Paris Olympics 2024. Her match for the shotgun trap event of shooting will be played this afternoon. Shreyasi Singh is the first athlete from Bihar to participate in the Olympics. With this, she has also become a public representative to get a place in the Olympics from India.

Contested elections in 2020

Shreyasi Singh contested the Bihar assembly elections on a BJP ticket in the year 2020. This was Shreyasi Singh's first election. In which she defeated RJD candidate Vijay Prakash by a margin of 41049 votes. In this election, Shreyasi Singh won by securing a total of 79603 votes.

Inherited politics-shooting

Shreyasi Singh is the daughter of former Union Minister late Digvijay Singh. Digvijay Singh was an MP from Banka Lok Sabha seat and a Union Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. His mother Putul Kumari was also an MP. Shreyasi Singh's father late Digvijay Singh and grandfather Kumar Singh were also fond of shooting. Both of them have also been the President of the Federation of India. In this way, Shreyasi Singh inherited both politics and shooting.

Many achievements have been made so far

Shreyasi Singh has won many medals for India so far. She won the gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast. Earlier, she won the silver medal in the double trap event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow and the bronze medal in the Asian Games Shooting Championship in 2014. Apart from this, she has won the silver medal in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. For this, she was also awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
