BJP may field two former Chief Ministers in Lok Sabha elections

Congress gave a big blow by defeating BJP in Karnataka. Now BJP can field its two former Chief Ministers in the Lok Sabha elections.

It is important for BJP to repeat or even better its performance in Karnataka. Without this, it is difficult to achieve the target of crossing 400 this time.

This is the reason why BJP is preparing to field some big leaders in the state in the Lok Sabha elections.

The two former Chief Ministers of Karnataka whose names are being discussed as BJP candidates include Basavaraj Bommai and Jagadish Shettar. Both come from the influential Lingayat community, which the party considers its main vote bank.

BS Yediyurappa said on Thursday that all 28 seats in the state have been discussed with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president JP Nadda, but the final decision has not been taken yet.

Yediyurappa is a member of both the Parliamentary Board and Central Election Committee of BJP. Yediyurappa said that yesterday Amit Shahji, Naddaji and all of us together discussed the candidates for all the 28 Lok Sabha seats. It has not been decided yet who will be given the ticket. All issues will be discussed with the Prime Minister and the situation will be clarified in two-three days.

He further said that everything was discussed but it has not been decided yet to whom and from where the tickets will be given. Discussions were also held with Bomai and Jagadish Shettar.

There is also discussion in Karnataka BJP that Shigaon MLA Bomai can contest elections from Haveri Lok Sabha seat. Sitting MP from Haveri, Shivkumar Udasi has announced his retirement from electoral politics in the upcoming elections.

Whereas Shatter can enter the field unbridled. Mangala Angadi, wife of former Union Minister Suresh Angadi, is currently the MP from here. In the by-election held in 2021 after the death of her husband, she won against senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi by a little more than 5 thousand votes.
