Jammu, 6 November (Hindustan Reporter). Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma launched the membership drive at a program organized at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. He emphasized that the BJP exemplifies democracy not only in national governance but also in its organizational structure. Sharma along with former Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta and other senior leaders highlighted the BJP's ambition to connect with the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sharma said that unlike nepotism-driven parties where power is often limited to a single family, the BJP believes in democracy at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the BJP's nationwide primary membership drive under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it the largest political party globally, surpassing even China's ruling party with over 10 crore members.

Sharma said the membership drive aims to reach out to all sections of the society with an aim to connect with voters, supporters and common citizens across the Union Territory. BJP in Jammu and Kashmir achieved important milestones with 6 lakh members in 2014 and 16.67 lakh members in 2019 which translated into maximum votes in the recent assembly elections. Now the party aims to match its membership numbers with its voter base, aiming to have at least 200 members per booth.

Sharma criticized rival parties as divisive forces that are hindering the progress of Jammu and Kashmir and expressed BJP's resolve to counter their influence. He announced that the membership drive which started with the virtual joining of 200 leaders from every district, will also be celebrated as Sangathan Parv.

Senior BJP leader Ashok Kaul explained the outline of the campaign and encouraged members to join through a missed call, followed by filling the online form. For rural areas with limited connectivity, the manual form process will ensure accessibility. He urged the party leaders to devote themselves completely to the campaign by taking up the role full-time to achieve the target of one month.
