BJP got only 2 seats out of 13

Indian Alliance 700x350xt
New Delhi: Opposition alliance 'India' has won a landslide victory in the by-elections held on 13 assembly seats in seven states. While 10 out of 13 seats are in the share of 'Bharat', BJP had to be satisfied with only 2 seats. A non-party candidate won on one seat. On Wednesday, elections were held for 4 seats in West Bengal, 3 seats in Himachal Pradesh, 2 seats in Uttarakhand, 1 seat each in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Tamil Nadu. The results were declared on Saturday.

While Congress won 4 seats, 2 in Himachal and 2 in Uttarakhand, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress won all 4 seats in the by-elections held in West Bengal. BJP got 1 seat in Himachal and 2 in Madhya Pradesh. DMK got 1 seat in Tamil Nadu, AAP got 1 seat in Punjab, non-party candidate got 1 seat in Bihar.

Sukhu government is more secure in Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: The strength of the Congress government led by Sukhvinder Sukhu, which was facing the threat of collapse before the Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh, has increased further due to the assembly by-elections. This has strengthened the government. Apart from this, Sukhu has become even more powerful within the party.

Due to internal strife and resignation of MLAs before the Lok Sabha elections, the strength of the Congress government fell to 36. Thus the government was on the verge of minority. In the by-elections held on six assembly seats along with the Lok Sabha, Congress won four seats. This increased the party's strength to 38. 35 seats are needed for a majority in the 68-member assembly. The government, which had a simple majority, has now won 2 seats in the by-elections of 3 constituencies as three non-party MLAs resigned and joined the BJP. Thus the strength of the government has increased to 40. Congress also won 40 seats in the 2022 assembly elections.

Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has entered the Assembly by defeating the BJP candidate by 9399 votes in Himachal Pradesh's Dehra seat. Also, the strength of the Congress, which is troubled by defection in Himachal with 68 members, has reduced to 40 and the government has become even stronger. It is worth noting that Congress has defeated BJP in Uttarakhand's holy seat Badrinath.

Lok Sabha trends released, lesson for BJP: Congress happy

Nabardeli: Congress has expressed great happiness over the victory of the All India Congress Party in the by-election. The winning streak that started in the Lok Sabha elections is continuing. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that BJP will have to face defeat in all the upcoming elections. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh and K.C. Venugopal took a dig at the BJP and replied that people have learned a lesson from incidents of defection like Operation Lotus.
