Kolkata, 02 April (HS). The BJP flag can once again wave in the tribal dominated Alipurduar Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal. The path for BJP candidate Manoj Tigga is easy. Given his influence in the area party and the state assembly, he is being considered a strong candidate. Voting will be held in the first phase in Alipurduar constituency on April 19. BJP has given ticket to Madarihat MLA Manoj Tigga in place of sitting MP John Barla.
Manoj is also the chief whip of BJP in the assembly. The first advantage for Tigga is the BJP's huge victory margin in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. John Barla got seven lakh 60 thousand 804 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which is 54.40 percent of the total votes. Dashrath Tirkey of Trinamool Congress was defeated by a huge margin. Tirkey got only five lakh six thousand 815 votes (36.73 percent).
His popularity as a party organizer in Alipurduar district and his role as chief whip in the assembly. The third advantage is that despite the strong wave of Trinamool Congress in the 2021 state assembly elections, BJP was victorious in most of the seven assembly constituencies under Alipurduar constituency. Ultimately, the BJP's victory margin in 2019 was achieved after organizational preparations. This time BJP has prepared a strong organizational structure for the party in Alipurduar.
