BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut's troubles increased, farmers reminded her of old statements, apologized – News India Live

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Farmers have demanded an apology from BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal Pradesh and actress Kangana Ranaut for her alleged objectionable remarks. The Joint Farmers Commission on Thursday reminded Kangana of her alleged statements against farmers during the agitation against the anti-agricultural laws. He has also demanded an apology.

SKM convenor Harish Chauhan said, 'How can Kangana ask for votes from farmers and expect our support? He has insulted the farming community. He should apologize first.

It is noteworthy that during the 2020-2021 farmers' agitation against the three agricultural laws, Bollywood actress Kangana allegedly misidentified a female farmer from Punjab and called her Bilkis Bano. However, she was an 80-year-old woman. The woman first came into limelight during the anti-CAA protest in Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi.

In one of her tweets, Kangana alleged that 'Shaheen Bagh Dadi' was also involved in the ongoing movement regarding the agricultural law. He retweeted the post with pictures of two elderly women including Bilkis Bano and wrote 'Te Dadi' which was printed in a magazine and available for Rs 100. However, people on Twitter said that the two women are different, so Kangana deleted her tweet.

Chauhan said that 70 percent of the voters in the state are farmers. His issue was never raised by the state MPs during the last 10 years. He said that SKM will support those candidates in the current elections who will advocate the interests of farmers. Chauhan said, 'We will support Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh from Mandi Lok Sabha seat as he is part of SKM and has raised our issues in the Assembly.'

He said that SKM has prepared a five-point demand manifesto and it will support those forces who include these demands in their agenda. He said that the loans of farmers have not been waived off in Himachal. The apple industry is in serious trouble due to cheap apple imports from Iran. Despite the minimum price fixed by the government at Rs 50 per kg, imported apples are being sold at Rs 40 per kg, which is disastrous for the apple industry.
