BJP and Lok Sabha Speaker paid tribute to Vinoba Bhave on his birth anniversary | News India

New Delhi, September 11 (HS). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today remembered the world-famous founder of the Bhudan movement, Acharya Vinoba Bhave, on his birth anniversary. The BJP and Birla have shared their thoughts on the X handle, paying tribute to him.

BJP has written, “Many salutations on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave, the pioneer of Bhoodan movement, great thinker and freedom fighter.” It is worth mentioning that Acharya Vinoba, born on 11 September 1895 in Maharashtra, was actually named Vinayak Narhari Bhave. Vinoba Bhave is the first international and Indian person to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award in the year 1958. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1983.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has written, “Through the Bhoodan movement, Acharya Vinoba Bhave gave rights to the deprived and landless sections of the country. He created a concept of equality in which the landlords took care of the poor and donated their land for their benefit.”

He wrote, “For his resolution, he walked thousands of miles on foot, in winter, summer, rain and sunshine. On the strength of service, he made his place in the hearts of crores of people. With his inspiration, lakhs of acres of land were donated to the landless. One day, more land was donated than expected. While calculating, a smile came on his face. He said, “Today, so much land has come in hand, but see, whether the soil is stuck to your hands or not!” On whose call lakhs of acres of land were donated, but his concern was that not even a particle of soil should stick to his own hands. Such selfless dedication in public service is incomparable. I salute the great freedom fighter, social reformer and pioneer of the Bhoodan movement, Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave ji on his birth anniversary.”
