BJP adopted divisive agenda due to fear of defeat in assembly elections: Manjit Singh | News India

Vijaypur, September 11 (HS). Manjit Singh, his party's candidate from Vijaypur assembly constituency, has accused the BJP of adopting a policy of dividing the society for vote bank politics.

Addressing public meetings on Wednesday as part of the ongoing election campaign in Vijaypur Assembly constituency, the former minister expressed concern over the election campaign adopted by opposition political parties in Vijaypur to divide voters on the basis of caste, creed and religion.

The former minister said that the voters know that the BJP has failed to fulfil the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As far as Vijaypur is concerned, development has been blocked and the unemployment rate has increased in the last ten years. He assured that jobs in the industrial sector will be reserved for local youth and no outsider will be allowed to take their place.

Urging the people to extend their support in the forthcoming Assembly elections, he said that his party would speed up development in Vijaypur and its villages by upgrading road infrastructure and improving the living standards of the people. He said that development and welfare schemes have not been implemented at the grassroots level and people are not getting support from the authorities due to the poor performance of the officials who are working at the behest of the BJP.

He questioned the BJP for avoiding questions on development, rising unemployment, capture of resources by non-locals, influence of mafia system in mining and liquor trade which has compromised the interests of local people who depend on these businesses. He said since the situation has turned against the wishes of the BJP, the saffron party has adopted an agenda that can promote division in the society.

He said that politics should be based on the agenda of development and employment rather than division in the society. During this, he also informed the people about the uniform development policy, welfare schemes and other agenda of the party which will be implemented by the party if it forms the government in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he is committed to revive development and bring positive change in the lives of the people who have been deprived of representation by traditional parties for their own benefit.
