Bird flu found in poultry samples tested at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Ranchi

Ranchi, May 21 (HS). H5N1 avian influenza (bird flu) has been confirmed in the samples of poultry from Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Morhabadi, Ranchi, at ICAR-NIHSAD, Bhopal.

After confirmation of bird flu, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha on Tuesday, as a precautionary measure, has banned the purchase and sale of any live/dead poultry, poultry products and eggs within a radius of one kilometer from Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Morhabadi (infected area-poultry farm). Also, their transportation will also remain banned till further orders.
