Patna: The Bihar Assembly has passed a bill aimed at curbing question paper leaks and other irregularities in recruitment examinations held in the state.
The Bihar Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024, introduced by Bihar Legislative Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, has been passed by voice vote amid a walkout by the Opposition.
The new law aims to curb irregularities in competitive examinations in Bihar, including question paper leaks. Bihar was recently in the news for the NEET-UG, 2024 question paper leak case.
The bill provides for stringent punishment for those involved in such irregularities. This includes imprisonment of three to five years and a fine of Rs 10 lakh.
Chowdhary said that the service providers who have been entrusted with the task of conducting such examinations can be fined up to Rs 1 crore.
Apart from this, he will be kept away from investigation for four years and his property will also be confiscated.
