New Delhi, 28 February (HS). Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will on Thursday participate in a Women and Child Development Ministry program stressing on 'right nutrition'. Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani will also be present on this occasion. The Ministry of Women and Child Development will organize the program “Poshan Utsav – A Celebration of Nutrition” in New Delhi on Thursday.
'Poshan Utsav Book' will be released during this program. Also, a cartoon in collaboration with the Ministry will announce its support for coalition nutrition. The festival will serve as a platform to disseminate important messages on the value of good nutrition through a cartoon collaboration.
The program is being seen as a major achievement in efforts to tackle malnutrition among children and promote healthy lifestyles. It hopes to revolutionize nutrition awareness by telling children captivating stories through their favorite cartoon characters and other IEC content and drive positive behavior change in communities across the country for desired nutrition outcomes.
Poshan Utsav aims to leverage popular cartoon characters to advocate holistic nutrition among children through a collaboration between the Ministry of Women and Child Development and Amar Chitra Katha. Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) has prepared a 'Poshan Utsav Book' to promote cultural heritage and traditional nutrition practices. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has helped in this. This book provides information about food from cultural, social, economic and scientific perspectives. It aims to revive ancient nutrition traditions, facilitate exchange of knowledge and inter-generational learning. The book will also serve as a comprehensive repository for appreciation of the country's rich culinary heritage and nutritional diversity.
