Orange alert of heavy rain in these 4 southern districts

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the maximum impact of rain will be seen in the southern and western parts of the state:

• Districts with extremely heavy rainfall: Orange alert has been issued for extremely heavy rain in Bhabhua (Kaimur), Rohtas, Gaya and Nawada districts.

• Fear of strong storm: In these districts, there is a strong possibility of torrential rains along with strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and lightning.

Yellow alert of heavy rain in 10 districts including Patna

• Yellow Alert Area: Moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms has been predicted in Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Arwal, Vaishali, Samastipur, Siwan, Gopalganj and West Champaran.

• Condition of Patna: Intermittent rain has been recorded in the capital Patna and surrounding areas since yesterday, due to which the maximum temperature has dropped to between 30°C to 32°C.

Kosi-Gandak in spate due to rain in Nepal, danger of flood

Due to continuous heavy rains in the catchment areas of North Bihar and Nepal, the water level of major rivers of the state is rising rapidly:

• Flood in Kosi and Gandak: In view of the rise in the water level of Kosi river, dozens of gates of Veerpur Barrage have been opened.

• Alert in coastal areas: There is a danger of flood in the low-lying areas of Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Khagaria and Champaran. The Disaster Management Department has instructed the district administrations to remain on alert mode 24 hours.

Meteorological Department’s warning: Farmers working in the fields should be careful

Meteorologists have issued an advisory for people in view of the danger of heavy rain and lightning alert:

1. Don’t stop in the open: Do not go in open fields, under big trees or electric poles during rain and cloudy weather.

2. Take shelter in permanent houses: Farmers working in the fields should immediately move to the nearest permanent house or safe place as soon as the weather turns bad.

3. Avoid waterlogging: Avoid going to low-lying and water-logged areas and do not go near rivers.
