Last year, ISRO had created history by successfully landing Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the Moon on August 23. India has become the first country in the world to reach the south pole of the Moon. After this, Indian scientists received congratulatory messages from all over the world. PM Modi also visited ISRO center and met scientists associated with Chandrayaan-3 project.
Along with this, the place where Chandrayaan-3 landed was named Shiv Shakti Point. Now a big good news has come out in this regard. Actually, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) has approved the name of Shiva Shakti on 19 March. This means that now officially the place where Chandrayaan-3 landed will be recognized across the world as Shiv Shakti Point.
According to the Planetary Naming Gazette, “The IAU Working Group on Planetary System Nomenclature has approved the name Shiv Shakti for the landing site of Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander.” Like naming a particular place, a name is given to uniquely identify a place on a planet. This makes it easier to find a place in the future and people can discuss it. Let us tell you that this name was announced by PM Modi at the ISRO center in Bengaluru on 23 August 2023, three days after the successful landing on the Moon.
Prime Minister Modi had said that the landing site of Chandrayaan-3 will be named Shiv Shakti, while in 2019, the crash-landing site of Chandrayaan-2 has been named Tricolor. Apart from this, it was also announced to celebrate National Space Day on 23rd August every year. PM Modi also became emotional while addressing ISRO scientists in Bengaluru. He had said, “I wanted to meet you as soon as possible and congratulate you.” Salute to your efforts.” The Prime Minister had told ISRO scientists that I am feeling a different kind of happiness, such opportunities rarely come. I was in South Africa but my heart was completely with you.
