Gandhinagar: A team of the Gandhinagar-based State Cyber Crime Cell has arrested Sagari of the gang that hacked WhatsApp and cheated people online from Badra village in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.
Cyber crime helpline number 1930 received an application regarding need of money from friends of the victim of hacking WhatsApp account and it was said that the money was taken in the name of the victim and promised.
College fee fraud was detected on the basis of details of State Bank of India account number and mobile number used in this case. Therefore, the matter was investigated thoroughly and information about the suspicious mobile number was obtained and verified and the location of the mobile number was in Badra village of Anuppur district. Therefore the team was immediately sent to Anuppur Madhya Pradesh. Where surveillance was arranged with the help of local police and investigation was conducted, Prabhatkumar Chhotalal Gupta (Resident Ward No. 03, Badra, Kevat Maholla, Badra Colony, Kotma, T.G. Anuppur) was detained.
Upon thorough interrogation of the accused, he admitted that he used to target only school and college girls and till now he has targeted more than 100 girls from different states by hacking their WhatsApp and defrauded them. At present, further interrogation of the accused who is on remand is going on.
