Rau IAS coaching center case: The magisterial inquiry into the death of three UPSC aspirants due to waterlogging in the basement of a coaching centre in Rau has indicated that the MCD and the fire department have maliciously violated several laws. The inquiry report states that although the MCD and fire department officials had noticed the violations earlier, no action was taken. The magisterial inquiry has also blamed the IAS Study Circle. Many revelations have been made in the report submitted to the Revenue Minister.
The report said that the owner and management of Rao Coaching Centre were also liable for criminal negligence by indulging in dangerous misuse of the basement without caring for the lives of the students. The report revealed that MCD and fire department officials had noticed violations in the building earlier too but did not take any action.
15 people, including students and officials of various departments, were questioned during the investigation. The MCD did not remove encroachment from the canal here. On the other hand, the fire department also failed to mention the misuse of the building's basement as a library to the MCD during inspection on July 1 this year.
The court sought a response from the CBI on the bail plea of the four co-owners
The court on Wednesday issued a notice to the CBI on the bail plea of four co-owners of the basement coaching centre who are in jail in connection with the accident that took place in the basement of Rajendra Nagar. Chief District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandana has directed the central investigating agency to file its reply by August 9. Only after this, the court will hear the bail plea of the four accused Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh and Sarabjit Singh.
The court issued a notice and said that since the copy of the FIR was not produced before the court, it cannot decide on the bail petitions filed by the accused. The High Court had recently handed over the investigation of the death in the basement of the coaching centre building in Old Rajendra Nagar from the police to the CBI.
