A very big and relief news has come out for crores of subscribers of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The EPFO ​​Passbook Portal, which was closed for the last two weeks due to maintenance and system upgradation, has finally become completely live again. Now PF account holders can check their account statement by logging in without any hassle.

However, with the launch of the portal, EPFO ​​has given a big blow regarding Universal Account Number i.e. UAN activation, which is very important for every employed person to know.

8.25% interest money is coming, check your PF balance immediately

The resumption of this passbook portal also means a lot for the subscribers because EPFO ​​is going to start crediting the annual interest money at the rate of 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26 in the accounts of all the members from July 15.

• Data of selected years will be visible: An important notice is visible when you log in to the newly upgraded portal. According to this, transactions and PF balance of recent financial years can be seen immediately, but data of very old years is still being transferred to the system from the backend. This is an automatic process, which will be completed in the next few days and the old records will also start appearing.

Big shock: UAN activation facility closed forever from website

In order to make the system completely hi-tech and secure, EPFO ​​has stopped the old method. Till now, employees could easily activate their UAN by visiting the official website of EPFO’s ‘Unified Member Portal’, but now this web-based UAN activation facility has been closed forever. Now users visiting the website are being shown a clear notice that this service is no longer available.

Now UAN will be activated only by showing face, note this new mobile formula

EPFO has made the entire process of UAN activation mobile-based and digital to prevent fraud and security breaches in PF accounts:

1. UMANG app will have to be used: Now it will be mandatory for any new or old employee to download the government UMANG app on their smartphone to activate their UAN.

2. Face Authentication Technology (FAT): When you go to the option of UAN activation through Umang app, now Aadhaar-based Face Authentication technology will have to be used there. This means that now UAN will be activated only after your face is live scanned by the mobile camera, which will make the security system very strong.

The department started rolling out its new and modern ‘Unified Member Portal’ in a phased manner from July 3. EPFO says that the main objective of this major technology overhaul is to make the security of PF accounts impenetrable, to remove technical glitches of the server forever and to provide a smooth digital experience to crores of subscribers.
