Manish Sisodia has got a big relief in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam. The Supreme Court has granted bail to Manish Sisodia. Actually, the Supreme Court has granted bail to Sisodia on a bond of Rs 10 lakh. Sisodia will have to pay a bond of Rs 10 lakh each in the ED and CBI case and will now come out of jail after 17 months. Sisodia will have to surrender his passport. He will have to report to the IO every Monday.
The Supreme Court said that so far more than 400 witnesses and thousands of documents have been presented in this case. There is no possibility of this case ending in the coming days. In such a situation, keeping Sisodia in custody would be a violation of the fundamental right to freedom. The court said that the High Court and the trial court are playing safe in the matter of bail. Bail cannot be denied as a punishment. Now the time has come for the courts to understand that bail is the rule and jail is the exception.
Let us tell you that CBI arrested Sisodia on 26 February last year. After this, ED arrested him again on 9 March in the money laundering case. After which Sisodia has now got bail in both CBI and ED cases. A bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanath has given the verdict on Sisodia's bail. The bench had reserved its decision three days ago on 6 August.
