Big relief to Imran Khan, HC said – no evidence against him in secret documents case

Imran Khan News: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has got a big relief. In the secret documents case, Islamabad High Court said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Federal Investigation Agency) could not prove that Imran Khan had confidential diplomatic documents and they went missing from him.

The case against Imran Khan is pending before a bench of Islamabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Miyan Gul-Hassan. In which the lower court had sentenced Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was the Foreign Minister in his government, to 10 years imprisonment for possessing secret documents and making them disappear. During the hearing on his appeal in the High Court, the High Court said that the investigating agencies could not prove any evidence against Imran Khan in the secret documents case.

It is well known that in this case, the founder and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party along with his witness and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the trial court.

Investigative agencies claimed that Imran Khan had allegedly displayed several confidential (secret) diplomatic documents at a rally in Islamabad and said that this was evidence of a conspiracy by foreign powers against his government. After submitting this paper, his party was overthrown by a vote of no-confidence in April 2022, after which he was arrested by the new government and sentenced to 10 years in prison along with his partner. Against which Imran Khan has appealed in the High Court, hence the hearing is going on.

Those keeping an eye on the Imran episode say that in fact, both Imran Khan and his then Foreign Minister were pulling the army team like a particle while emphasizing on good relations and friendship with India. His mind is his biggest crime. So for some reason or the other he was implicated, he and his associates were jailed and that too for 10 years.
