Assembly elections in Maharashtra are near and at such a time there is political turmoil. The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) on Wednesday made a big claim that a report in the RSS-affiliated Marathi weekly questioning the BJP-NCP alliance was a subtle message for Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to leave the ruling coalition in Maharashtra. RSS-affiliated publication Vivek claims that after the alliance with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, voter sentiment in Maharashtra turned against the BJP, resulting in the saffron party's poor performance.
According to an informal survey conducted by the publication, BJP members rejected the party's decision to join hands with Pawar. Ajit Pawar broke away from uncle Sharad Pawar's party NCP in July last year and joined the Mahayuti. In the Lok Sabha elections, the number of BJP members in Maharashtra decreased to 9. Shiv Sena and NCP won seven and one member respectively. In contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi performed brilliantly and won 30 out of 48 seats.
On Wednesday, NCP (Sharad Pawar) spokesperson Clyde Crasto claimed that the BJP has realised that if it goes into the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, its alliance with the Ajit Pawar-led party could suffer. He said that the reality is that the people of Maharashtra have voted for the NCP (Sharad Pawar) on a large scale. The BJP is also working cautiously in the whole matter. Because they also want to win the elections. But their alliance with the NCP led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar is sure to lead to their defeat like the Lok Sabha elections.
He further said that BJP is trying to distance itself from Ajit Pawar through the weekly (Vivek). Perhaps they are asking him to leave the Mahayuti in some way. Cresto claimed that voters in Maharashtra did not accept BJP's alliance with NCP and Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said that the decision to bring Ajit Pawar along has created problems for BJP. Due to which the party has lost many Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. This is the current reality of electoral politics in Maharashtra. It seems that people do not approve of BJP's alliance with NCP and similarly with Shiv Sena led by Shinde.
25 members left the party
Let us tell you here that according to media reports, 25 leaders including Pimpri Chinchwad NCP president Ajit Gavhane have left the party and joined NCP (Sharad Pawar). Which is being considered a big setback for the NCP led by Ajit Pawar.
