Keep in mind that those who buy tickets from the counter and those who travel normally do not get the benefit of this insurance.
Compensation as per loss
Under the Railway Travel Insurance facility, if a passenger dies in a railway accident or becomes permanently disabled, he is given an insurance amount of up to Rs 10 lakh. If the passenger becomes partially disabled, he is given Rs 7.5 lakh as compensation. At the same time, if a passenger is seriously injured, he is given Rs 2 lakh and if the passenger is slightly injured, he is given assistance of up to Rs 10 thousand.
How can you make a claim?
Only Indian citizens can avail the benefits of this travel insurance provided by IRCTC, foreign citizens are not covered under it. You can claim for insurance within 4 months of the train accident. For this facility provided by IRCTC, you can go to the office of the insurance company from which you have purchased the insurance and claim for the insurance. Keep in mind that while purchasing the insurance, you must fill the name of the nominee, so that in case of any untoward incident, he/she does not face any problem in claiming.
