NTA will conduct entrance exams only: After irregularities came to light in NEET UG 2024 and UGC NET, the Central Government constituted a committee to reform the functioning of NTA and ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of entrance examinations conducted by it. The KIA Committee has recommended several reforms, keeping in mind the Central Government has taken a major decision to improve the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced regarding recruitment examinations
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on Tuesday that, ‘From the year 2025, NTA will conduct entrance exams only for higher education institutions. NTA will not conduct recruitment exams from next year. NTA will be reorganized in the new year. 10 new posts will be created in the examination agency.
The Union Minister further said, ‘The government wants to move towards computer based examination and technology based entrance examination in the near future. Discussions are underway with the Health Ministry on whether the NEET UG exam for medical admission should be conducted only in pen-paper mode.
Common University Entrance Test will be conducted only once a year
CUET UG provides admission to undergraduate courses in more than 260 universities in the country such as DU, BHU, Jamia, Allahabad University. In this regard, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also clarified that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG will be conducted only once a year.
He said, ‘The agency will be reorganized in 2025, under which at least ten new posts are being created. Many changes will be made in the functioning of NTA to ensure that there is no mistake in the work.
NTA was responsible for admission in these examinations.
If we talk about the recruitment exams conducted by NTA, it includes NEET, JEE Main, UGC NET, CSIR UGC NET, CUET UG & PG, AIAPGET, NEFT and CMAT.
