Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team by the BCCI. He will replace Rahul Dravid. In this regard, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made an official announcement by tweeting. It is worth noting that Rahul Dravid's tenure ended after the recent T20 World Cup. He took over as the head coach in 2021. However, he was later given a one-year extension in 2023.

Gautam Gambhir retired from international cricket on 4 December 2018. A few months later he joined the BJP. Gambhir last played for India in 2016 against England in Rajkot. Gambhir scored 4154 runs in 58 Test matches at an average of 41.95, including nine centuries.
Gambhir played a memorable innings in World Cup-2011
Gambhir has scored 5,238 runs in 147 ODIs at an average of 39.68. This includes a memorable innings of 97 runs in the 2011 World Cup final, which helped India win the World Cup for the second time. He scored 11 centuries in ODIs. Gambhir also left his mark in T20 international matches. He has scored 932 runs in 37 matches at an average of 27.41 with seven half-centuries.
Under the guidance of Gambhir, KKR team became IPL champion
Gambhir became the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before IPL-2024. After this, he also made the KKR team champion under his guidance. Gambhir was the only candidate to apply for the post of head coach. Before the interview for the post of coach, he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
