Electricity bill news: The Electricity Corporation management has taken an important decision to provide relief to the outstanding electricity consumers. Now electricity will not be cut even after partial payment of the bill. If electricity is cut, the electricity connection can be reconnected by depositing 25 percent of the outstanding amount.
According to the new order issued by Pankaj Kumar, Managing Director of Power Corporation, regarding partial payment of electricity bills, Lifeline consumers with low power consumption will have the facility to deposit a minimum of 10 percent of the total outstanding bill or Rs 250 (whichever is higher). And other category of defaulters will have the facility to deposit 25 percent or Rs 1000 (whichever is higher). It is noteworthy that if the connection has been disconnected due to non-payment, the connection can be restarted by depositing at least 25 percent of the amount.
Departmental cash counters, online and other bill collection agencies will no longer need to take permission from anyone to facilitate partial payment of electricity bills. Consumers making partial payments will be able to make partial payments more than once in a month. The amount paid will be written on the receipt along with the total bill amount.
In case of partial payment, it will also be written on the payment receipt that 'Electricity Distribution Corporation reserves the right to disconnect the electricity connection in case the electricity bill is outstanding. To avoid disconnection, pay the full bill on time.
Defaulting consumers warned
Instructions have been given to defaulting consumers that if the connection is found to be connected without partial payment, a case will be registered and the outstanding amount including fine will be recovered.

According to officials, this solar panel with a capacity of 25 kilowatts will generate about 30,000 units of electricity per year, which will be used to run the depot's office, workshop, passenger waiting room, staff room and other power-driven equipment. The use of solar energy is important for the transport corporation from economic as well as environmental point of view. The life of this system is approximately 20 years and its maintenance is relatively easy.
No other costs are required other than cleaning and inspection of the panels. Local residents and environmental protection advocates have appreciated the initiative.
