A very big and relief news has come to light for lakhs of contract and honorarium teachers working in the education department and government schools of Uttar Pradesh. Taking a historic decision regarding the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UP TET 2026), the state government has given a huge gift to about 1.8 lakh working teachers. According to the new government order, now a special and separate eligibility test (TET) will be organized for these teachers. Not only this, the government has also announced to give special leave to teachers to prepare for and appear in this examination, which has created a wave of happiness in the teacher community.
Historic decision to conduct separate TET under regularization and new policy
Under this decision taken by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Basic Education Department, about 1.8 lakh teachers, including long-serving Shikshamitras and instructors in primary and upper primary schools of the state, will get direct benefits. Till now, these teachers had to appear in the traditional UP TET exam along with the general candidates, due to which it was a big challenge for them to pass it. Keeping in mind the convenience of teachers, the Chief Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Education have taken a very sensitive step for this special UP TET examination. All 1.8 lakh eligible teachers appearing in the examination will be given special leave by the department to officially prepare and appear on the day of the examination. There will be no reduction in their salary or honorarium during this period. The government believes that with this step, teachers will be able to prepare for the examination with full concentration without any mental or financial stress, which will also improve the quality of education.

According to information received from Basic Education Council sources, the detailed timetable, online application dates and eligibility rules for this special UP TET (UP TET 2026) examination will soon be made live on the official portal. The syllabus and exam pattern of this exam may be slightly different and practical from the normal TET exam, in which special weightage may be given to the teaching experience of teachers. Lucknow Headquarters has issued strict instructions to all the District Basic Education Officers (BSA) to prepare data in this regard and compile the list of qualified teachers as soon as possible.
