Champions Trophy 2025: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the green signal to the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule sent by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) some time ago. So now Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy next year, but the Indian government has not yet clarified its stand on sending Team India across the border. But media reports have revealed that if Team India does not go to Pakistan, then their matches can be played in Sri Lanka.
The decision to send a team to Pakistan rests solely with the Indian government: BCCI vice-president
There has been no official statement from BCCI or the Indian government yet regarding sending Team India to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. But in May this year, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla had said in a statement that the decision to send Team India to Pakistan is only in the hands of the Indian government. There is also news that if the Indian government decides not to send the team to Pakistan, then its Champions Trophy matches will be held in Sri Lanka.
Where will India's matches be held according to the ICC schedule?
According to the ICC schedule, India has been placed in Group A for the Champions Trophy 2025, which also hosts Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh. According to this schedule, all the matches of Team India are to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
There was controversy earlier also over going to Pakistan
Earlier, Pakistan also hosted the 2023 Asia Cup, but Team India refused to cross the border. After this, the ICC introduced a hybrid model, under which all the matches of the Indian team were played in Sri Lanka. Due to which Pakistan had to lose the hosting of the semi-final and final match of Asia Cup 2023.
