Hyderabad Police has busted a big illegal LPG racket running in Banjara Hills, a posh area of ​​the city. The Jubilee Hills Zone Task Force of the police conducted a raid based on a tip-off and arrested at least 10 people. During this period, a huge quantity of gas cylinders and vehicles have been recovered, whose total market value is around Rs. Rs 21.88 lakh Has been estimated. This gang was earning illegal profits by selling gas cylinders to the needy at prices much higher than those fixed by the government.

The main accused is associated with the gas agency of Shamshabad.

Police investigation has revealed that the mastermind of this entire scam is 42 year old Mohammad Aamir Is. Aamir operates an authorized agency named ‘Metro Gas Agency’ in Shamshabad. He used to illegally remove the cylinders from his own agency and hide them in a graveyard near Nagarjuna X Road. He had also involved many drivers, employees and laborers in this work. A deserted place like a graveyard was being used to dump the stock so that no one could get suspicious.

414 cylinders and 10 vehicles recovered in the raid

Police seized a total of 414 cylinders of different capacities during the raid. These include 30 large commercial cylinders (47 kg), 148 medium cylinders (19 kg) and 35 small cylinders (5 kg). Apart from this, more than 200 empty cylinders have also been recovered. used in gang smuggling 10 vehicles Also seized were 2 DCM vans, 2 Boleros, 1 Tata Ace and 4 auto rickshaws.

The gang was taking advantage of the helplessness of the needy

DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad said that this gang was flouting safety rules and all norms of LPG distribution. The accused used to target customers who urgently needed gas cylinders. They were charged double or even more than the government rate. Apart from the gas delivery staff, the arrested accused also include the land owner who had given his space on rent to hide the cylinders.

DCP’s warning: Illegal storage can lead to a major accident

After inspecting the spot, the DCP warned the public that storing LPG cylinders in such an illegal and unsafe manner could prove fatal. Due to this, a massive fire or a big explosion can occur at any time. Police have appealed that people should buy gas cylinders only from authorized dealers and if there is information about illegal sale or black marketing anywhere, then immediately inform the local police.
